Each year, I read between 100-150 books. Only the best make it here. Check out my Amazon profile for more reviews and recommendations.
Content marketing:
Clout: A must read for those who work with web content. It wasn’t basic like many other books I’ve read. (My Problogger review)
Curation Nation:Loved it. Rosenbaum did all the interviews, analysis and research so that we can understand the implications. He structured the book so that it answered my key concerns and raised questions that I hadn’t yet thought of. Helped me figureout how I could leverage curation for my business. (My Problogger review)
Digital Publishing:
Let’s Get Digital: Affordable guide for those wanting to get an overview of the digital marketing scene. Will save you a lot of time in research
Startups:
Founders at Work: A series of interviews with many brilliant minds that shaped the early years of technology. The author does a brilliant job of showing how each company built off previous ideas, and also shows how the earlier pioneers influenced the industry. (Amazon Review)
Brilliant, Crazy, Cocky: Brilliant read. I had been so busy trying to wrap my head around the local markets that I hadn’t even considered ones such as Indonesia and Asia. It helped me gain a new perspective and has inspired me to tweak my approach.
Startups Open Sourced: Mostly of interest to those interesting in Y Combinator. Fascinating, even if some chapters or questions were unnecessary.
Career:
Live After College: My favourite career book. Especially useful as a confused 20-something, despite not having finished college.
Brazen Careerist: Was surprised at how relevant it still despite despite the economic changes. Very useful for those studying or at the start of their career.
Word of Mouth + Relationship Marketing
World Wide Rave: A person favourite by a marketer I admire. The concept of a World Wide Rave is developing a concept that gets people talking. Beautifully designed and makes a boring concept fun. Love it.
Referral Engine: THE book if you want more business from referrals. It gave me so many ideas and tips for my business. I think it is a must read for anyone marketing themselves online.
Word of Mouth Marketing: Brilliant – a must read if you want to get down to the nuts and bolts of how to spread, well, anything. It sums up the method that I use to share ideas.
The New Relationship Marketing. Gold. Both for newbies and us social media geeks
PR
Newsjacking: In PR? This is a must read. This technique is a great way to get publicity and is being under utilized currently.
Real Time Marketing PR: Another fab read by DM Scott. If you are ultra savvy in the digital space, you may know a lot of this. I learned so much and I write about digital marketing for clients.
Social Media:
Likeable Social Media: One of my favourite books about social media. Doesn’t rehash the stuff everyone knows, and has lots of gems that will help your business.
Networking + Connecting
Networking Awesomely: Down to earth and pratical guide for networking in real settings for entrepreneurs. Focuses on friendship first and not being a douche. It’s less then $1 so is a must read.
Never Eat Alone: A bit aggressive, but well worth reading. You may have to do extra work to adjust the techniques to suit your level of relationship building.
