Review of Unconventional Guide to Discount Airfare - an Ebook by Chris Guillebeau
30 Aug
The Guide to Discount Airfare was one of the earlier products by Chris Guillebeau. He's the guy that blogs at Art of Conformity and has the plan to travel to every country in the world by the time he's 35. He has done over 80 and has a LOT of exerperience about unconventional travel. I highly recommend this book to any American looking at cutting costs while travel.
The content
Discount Airfares is a 30 page guide full of unconventional tips to save you money on travel. He talks about the stuff you can only write about after flying as much as he has. He has times on:
- How to save money getting to certain regions
- Saving on premium travel
- Getting airline lounge access
- Unusal ideas on saving money when travelling
- Useful sites to help you save money
A lot of the focus is on unusally routes and stopovers, as well as using points. I thought that this was really useful and comprehensive, without being too long.
My recommendation.
Obviously, a lot of the information was targeted at Americans so most of the information wasn't really relevant to this Australian. I still found it really useful. It had a lot of content that would be useful once I start travelling overseas.
If you intend to travel for either work or for fun, then Discount Airfare is highly recommended.
If you want further information, I provide consult quality responses in the comments. However if you want the kick arse information that I don’t provide elsewhere, look at these:
