Who is Alexis?
Alexis was an entrepreneurial writer and digital strategist, with a focus on careers. She started my career in journalism, then pivoted to build her own blog-management company. That company was acquired in mid-2015 by The Penny Hoarder (Taylor Media), where she now works full time.

She and her agent parted ways after they failed to find a publisher. Read: When You Have to Admit You’ve Failed. She is looking at exploring self publishing, but has paused work on the project so she can focus on other opportunities.
She previously ran a paid newsletter called solopreneur secrets. It didn’t have a good ROI, so she used the material for her ebook How I Surpassed My Day Job Income in Just 6 Months of Self-Employment: Your Transition to Freedom.

In February, 2014, she released You Deserve to Love Your Job: 20 Big Ideas for Succeeding in the New World of Work as her first kindle product.
She initially launched the product for 99 cents. She said that Is $.99 the New Free? The Truth About Launching and Pricing Your Kindle Books was “One of the most helpful resources we used to launch my first Kindle book”
Why she went the kindle route:
Releasing via Kindle is a different ballgame: It means less control over distribution (Kindle has an exclusivity policy, so I can’t also sell the book on my site), sharing the profits with Amazon, and — this is the biggie — selling the book at a lower price point. Because of that, I’ll have to sell a whole lot of books to see any monetary return on my investment.
This particular book works well at a low price point, which is one of the reasons we decided to go the Amazon route. But the truth is, I’m not expecting to make much profit on this book. Down the line, when I have several Kindle books available, it could become a significant form of revenue. But for now, I simply want to get this book — and the idea that you should play by the new rules of work — into as many hands as possible. That’s what Amazon brings to the table: the potential to reach people outside of my community.
